  1. Thurs about 4 p.m. It’s overcast and dreary here. Snow in forecast but you know how that goes. Everyone is anxious to hear from you. I check your website several times a day, nothing so far.I hope the flight from NJ to India wasn’t too terrible. As near as I can tell there is about a 12 hour time differential (noon here, midnight there) is that about right? You’re continually on my mind and in my prayers. Hope you have recovered somewhat from the flight and from jet lag. Love, Mom

  2. I have been following your posts and waiting anxiously to see if you arrived safely. I’m glad you have. You are in my thoughts and I am excited to hear how the treatments go.
Kathy–HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONDAY. We are going to my mom and dad’s for cake and coffee. I’ll be thinking of you as you celebrate yours.

  3. Rusty and Kathy, we are here in Colorado, with any support that we can provide. Happy Birthday Kathy, we look forward to a nice dinner when you both return.

  4. Loved seeing the pictures and the great descriptions of life in India. Everything is sounding so positive and I think of you guys daily.

  5. I got an email from Kari yesterday and one from Megan today. Among the three of us, I think we have contacted everyone. The only duplicates in Megan’s and my group lists are Shirley and Donna. Stormy out again today and a little moisture during the night. Lots of snow to the south (Uncompaghre,San Juans, etc.) and perhaps a foot or more on the Mesa. Aunt Jo phoned this am, she said about 9 in. there and still falling. Christmas lights going up… It will certainly be different for all this year. But what a wonderful magical time for you and all your loved ones. The greatest gift of all is this opportunity for you (Rusty) and with lots of prayers, a Christmas miracle. Kathy has been so strong and stalwart, ever the optimist, small wonder she was emotional. Kathy, “Happy Birthday” and may all your wishes come true. Thank you for all you do for Rusty and all of us. You have the biggest heart I have ever known.” Rusty your Grandpapa would be amazed with all of this. Tons of love, Mom/Mona

  6. The article you spoke of ran in today’s (Sun. 12/02) issue, good coverage as you promised. The Daily Sentinel has a website that I accessed in Albany, but I’m not sure of the exact location, possibly gjsentinel.com. Atty Andy Williams (age 81) died late last week. Kathy, I’m not sure if you knew him in your legal secratary days or not. We managed to get .49 in (almost a record) of rain yesterday breaking a 40 day drought. Rusty, what do you want me to do about the prescription? Hope all is going well for you. Hugs, love and prayers, Mom

  7. Just wanted to wish kathy a very Happy Birthday from all the family back here in Rifle, and to let you both know everything is fine with your house. Mom and Dad are both well, and miss you both very much. Keep sending the messages, your both such great writers I feel like I am there with you. We will keep you in our prayers. Love Ya Kirk

  8. Dave Miller here,
Just got the latest word from your “cheerleader!” Checked out the site and got caught up on your grand adventure. There arent words to explain how excited I am about your initial successes and know that there are more people than you know behind you. Keep us posted and we’ll be sending you our thoughts and prayers daily!
I have to comment on just how lucky you are to have such a devoted and supportive woman by your side! May every man have such good fortune!

Go get ‘em Rusty and Kathy! Dave

  9. Like you said in your messages, I am having trouble with e-mail’s getting to you guys.
Good news about the movement in your feet, hope it continues. Your postings are wonderful. Life is real different over there. Hope to hear more.
Thanks for letting us share your experience.
    Bill

  10. Yeah! Just read your latest entry, only after I sent off a personal email. I can only imagine how difficult the therapy must be,but no one I know tries as hard as you do, Rusty, and you have something else no one else has, you have Kathy at your side cheering you on and a whole lot of us stateside doing the same. So happy you were able to do something special for Kathy’s B-day. You’re right, armed men in the streets, bomb searches, oh my, very scary. We truly do take our day to day living in the U.S. for granted. Continuting prayers for your health and safety. Love always, Mom

  11. Good Morning from Santa Cruz,
Happy 50th Birthday Kathy (oops, should I not say the 50th?, I loved turning 50) I look forward to checking on you everyday. Sounds like you are finding your way around the neighborhood, thanks to Chris, what ever his last name is. My thoughts are with you both. Take care of each other.
    Love, Lynda

  12. Hi you two! What GREAT GREAT NEWS!!!! I loved reading about your toes moving. Very wonderful. I believe you are working hard on your balance and will only get better Rusty.

My dear Kathy Happy Happy birthday.

Your pictures look similar to what Egypt looked like. I can definitely identify.

    Hugs
    Love Jo

  13. We all say hello and are keeping up with your postings. You’re in our thoughts and prayers. Keep up the good work :-)

  14. I bet getting a response from Dr. Gall’s office was a surprise. I’m only a little talkative when in the dental chair with my mouth full of “stuff”, but I managed to fill them in on what was happening and gave Sue the site address. They were all genuinely enterested. It’s a hazy, grey, overcast day here. Rain is predicted so who knows what if anything might fall from the sky. Aunt Jo called last night. She and all her family (cousins galore) are so interested in everything you’re seeing and doing. Jo’s daughter Carol is printing everything out for her and Jo is collating everything — good, she can send copies to me. I have extra copies of Sunday’s article so will send copies to Megan and Kari, and save coopies for you. Hope things are progressing. The Hindu wedding reads like something from a fairy tale. Love with lots of prayers. Mom

  15. Hey Rusty and Kath,
I walk into the offiice and think of you both when I see the dark office. You are not missing any thing to exciting very slow for Real Estate in Jct in Dec. I love this site and will keep checking on all your progress and love the pictures. John and I took the boys to the movie today and there was a girl in the lobby that Jaden thought was Megan. He loves her so much.!!!
Its been rainling and overcast all day. I guess I should start thinking Christmas. Sure will miss the soup party this year. Keep up the hard work you two.
    Love Holly

  19. Hey you two–thank you for the very interesting overview on the area of India where you are currently residing. How fascinating to see up close this very different culture. It’s like we are there :-)

It’s cold here today and snow is in the forecast. If this keeps up we will have a white Christmas. My parents are staying home this year instead of going to Arizona so it will be an extra special Christmas.

Everyone in the office asks about you daily and reads your entries on their lunch hour on my computer. They all say “Hello” and send their best.

I think of you so much. Kathy, lunch or FAC is on the agenda when you are back and all settled in again :-)

    Susie

  20. I am really enjoying keeping up with you kids. We have been reading and praying for great things to come of the venture, your entire family is so brave. Betty Roy and I have traveled extensively over our 51 years and with the descriptions, pictures, etc of India we may skip it for a while.
    Merry Chirstmas!!!!!!

  21. Hi Rusty and Kathy,
I am so glad you are able to experience some of the culture. I do have one question, who owns the cows or does everyone just feed and care for them?
It’s great that you have a view of the street. How about a picture of your room, I’m curious how you and your things are fitting.
Rusty, sounds like a lot of hard work, but you are definately up to the challenge. I hope you are feeling better by now. My thoughts and prayers are always with you.
Thanks you so much for keeping us informed and for sharing all the pictures.
    Take care of each other,
    Lynda

What do you call a Rudolph with no eyes?

    No eyed deer….

  23. Hi Rusty and Kathy - We spent Christmas Day with family and friends in Rifle. All were SO interested in hearing about you folks and progress there. You are in our daily thoughts and prayers, your journal stories are fantastic. We look forward to you coming down Tamarron Drive sometime in the future Rusty - without wheels. Love, Roger and LuAnn

    Love Ray & Karen

  25. Happy New Year! I wish us all a Heathly and Peaceful year. Carrie was home for Christmas and we spent the day with Mom, Dad, Larry, Lisa and Vince(Lisa’s son). We had a great day. Looking forward to when we can all get together again. This weekend I am helping Carrie get her things back home, she leaves for Athens, GA on Jan 10th and then off to Cairo on the 24th. Sometimes I just can’t believe how lucky we are to have these 4 wonderful kids and to have Jeffrey and Megan bring us all together. Rusty you are an inspiration to all of us. Kathy you are a rock! Love, Lynda

  27. Oh my gosh, I have missed so much. I am so glad you are on the mend. How exciting to have feeling and to get some control over your bladder and bowels. I do not tire of hearing the details. I am sure you are looking forward to coming home, but also feel the disappointment of leaving the clinic and the wonderful people you have met. I have spent the last couple of weeks helping Carrie get ready for Egypt. I’m glad to catch up on the news. Mom and Dad send you their best. Take care. Love, Lynda

  29. Rusty and Cathy,
sorry to be so lax in contacting you two on your amazing! adventure. After retiring, things have been just a little hectic. Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you two and praying for you also. Sounds like you are having some positive signs from your treatments, and am so glad to hear it.
Amazing web site, and very informative. Thinking of you two, and take care.
    Greg Morgan

  30. Hi Kathy & Rusty! Don’t think for a minute that just because I have not posted any comments, that you two are out of my thoughts & prayers. I love all the photos & comments & continue to pray for Rusty’s strength & improvement with every stem cell procedure. You both are awesome examples of love & dedication to each other & to improving Rusty’s mobility. I still truly believe that Rusty can help to change the medical world in the US & their resistence to this modern & fastinating stem cell miracle. Keep up the good work - keep posting your updates & photos & keep bringing hope to those who also need this miracle in their lives. God Bless You both & keep you safe in India.
